

Aaron Butler
Director/Principal
Mr. Butler graduated from Wittenberg University with a BS in Elementary Education and a Masters in Educational Administration from Ashland University. He comes to Mason Run from Springfield, Ohio. Mr. Butler enjoys playing competitive softball, watching movies, reading, and serving people in the community. At Mason Run, he is responsible for the well-being and development of his students, teachers, and staff while overseeing the day to day operations of the school.


Aaron Haeberle
Asst. Director/Asst. Principal
Mr. Haeberle or Mr. H has been at Mason Run for five years and counting. He originally comes from the great basketball state of Indiana. It was there he also graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in life science education and a minor in theatre. With his passion for science, theatre, and hands on learning, Mr. H sets out to make science as interactive as possible! When he is not in the classroom, Mr. Haeberle is looking for the best local food or playing board games.

Jennifer Hurtado
Enrollment Specialist/Records
This is Jennifer Hurtado and she is our Front Office Manager at Mason Run. She graduated with a business degree, but quickly discovered that her passion is in helping young adults! Her role is to keep students in school and help them however she can so they can graduate! Stop by her office whenever you need help with anything or just want to chat about life. If you miss too many days of school, she will track you down! By the way, she also ¡Habla español también!

Tanjahleeia Carter
Student Engagement Coordinator
Ms. Carter is originally from Cleveland, OH and graduated from Case Western University. With a passion for people, encouraging individuals to see the best in themselves, and helping them identify and achieve their personal goals has been her employment focus for the last 15 years. It is with this same enthusiasm that Ms. Carter joined Mason Run High School in the summer of 2021. Staying true to our mantra that ‘your success is our goal’, Ms. Carter strives to help students realize the value of education and commit to reaching their greatest potential, against all odds.

Norris Parker
Student Success Coach
Norris "Cool Papa" Parker was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He's been cool since his inception. Coolness runs in his family, as his Mom and Dad are just as cool as the other side of the pillow. As a youth, he was so cool that all the kids called him "Cool Breezy N. Peezy". He Graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 2002. The day he walked across the stage was the coolest day ever. Attended both Columbus State Community College and Franklin University, majoring in Accounting. Cool Papa has been working with underprivileged teens and young adults since 2012, through various mentorship programs and volunteering. This is Cool Papa's 2nd year in Education.

Kathleen Cooper
Family Advocate
Ms. Cooper is the Family Advocate at Mason Run. She comes to Ohio from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) with a Bachelor of Arts in English and from Eastern Mennonite University with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Counseling. Ms. Cooper is an avid reader and podcast listener and enjoys getting outside and exploring with her Goldendoodle, Kingsley Shacklebark.

Leah Kartavich
English Teacher
Leah Kartavich or “Ms. K” was born and raised in central Ohio (go Bucks!) and went to college at The University of Akron. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in English in 2016. When she isn’t in the classroom, she is a sideline and competition cheerleading coach in Westerville and Hilliard. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling as much as possible, reading, crafting, and watching shows with her cat, Baker!

Kristen Bruner
Math Teacher
Mrs. Bruner earned her Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics from Agnes Scott College and her Masters of Education from Thomas University. She’s been teaching high school since 2006 and taught in Atlanta, Georgia and Greenville, South Carolina before she moved to Ohio in 2021. She has always loved math and sharing that love with her students brings her joy! She believes that everyone can be good at math with hard work and the right help along the way! When she’s not in her classroom, you can find Mrs. Bruner spending time with her husband and kids or reading her next favorite book.

Nick Lachowyn
Science Teacher
Mr. Lachowyn (or Mr. L) is entering his first year with us at Mason Run! He was born and raised in the great state of Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Secondary Education with a specialty in Life Sciences. In his classroom, you will get a combination of hands-on science learning and interactive technology that will apply to the real world. Outside of school, you can find Mr. L playing baseball, watching a movie, or trying out a new vegan recipe!

Jackie Walton
Social Studies Teacher
With an undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster and a graduate degree from Ashland University, Mrs. Walton is the Mason Run Social Studies Teacher. This is her fifth year teaching Social Studies (fourth year at Mason Run). Her passion for history derived from a love of travel. When she is not traveling or planning her next grand adventure, she can be found in the classroom with her therapy dog, Mako, out hiking, or visiting with friends and family.

Garrett Beech
Intervention Specialist
This is Garrett Beech. He is from Alliance, Ohio where he also attended the University of Mount Union and received a Bachelor's of Arts in Special Education. This is his second year as an Educator/Intervention Specialist. He spent a little time with Columbus City before joining the most dope Mason Run Staff. When he is not at work you can find him exploring nature, playing with his dog, or watching his favorite sports.

Malcom Briley
Student Resource Officer
Malcom Briley is our Student Resource Officer. He is a 6 year Marine Corp combat veteran and has over 27 years of security experience. His experience also includes: personal protection officer, security assessment specialist and police officer training as well. Malcolm also has training in de-escalation as also close quarter combat experience. You might not want to mess with this guy. He is also a martial arts practitioner.
